First of all let's define Search Engine Optimization, SEO or Search Engine Optimization is a Process or methodology applied to a website and its pages in an attempt to gain higher rankings for the website than it would otherwise have. Mainly the process involves modifying some parts of existing web pages so that they become compatible to search engine algorithms.

In ethical search engine optimization, search engine optimizers accept certain methods to be ethical but not others. Now, those methods which they accept, they called it as ethical and those method which they deny called as unethical. In ethical search engine optimization everything is optimized according to the visitors and everything is focussed on the content and its relevancy.

In unethical SEO, everything is optimized for the search engines and methods such as hidden text, cloaking and doorway pages are integral part of unethical SEO. From long time there is a discussion or you can say a type of cold war between these two terms "ethical" and "unethical'. Everybody are after ethical and don't want to say anything about unethical SEO.

Ethical ones have their point of view, their point says that "we employ ethical SEO Techniques and make your site search engine friendly". But the real fact is something else i.e when competition goes higher, these so called ethical SEO's don't have any choice but have to employ some techniques which are beyond their control, yes you are right i.e "unethical techniques".

The point that I was trying to prove is that, whenever you optimize a site for your client don't ever put him in confusion and just discuss your way of doing optimization. I am not advocating that you go for unethical ways but find out some mediocre path where you and your client don't have to criticize each other in future. Accept the competition and accept the fact that there is something beyond ethical SEO.
