5 Intermediate Tips for SEO and Your Website

When creating content for your website and taking Search Engine Optimization (SEO) into consideration, there are some additional items to consider to help get your page positioned well in search results. Good content, keyword rich page titles and meta descriptions are important, but these other tips will help as well.

Anchor Text

Keywords placed in the anchor text of links on a web page are given a higher priority by most search engines. Anchor text links should be used whenever possible for boosting organic results of that web page.

Other web sites that link to your web site with your keywords in the anchor text on their web pages... is also very effective strategy for boosting a web page's organic ranking.

Images / ALT tags

While there is no direct evidence that search engines are continuing to use this, or planning to do it again, it is however recommended to put 2-6 descriptive keywords on the image. There are a few reasons to use the ALT tag on images, even though originally its use was abused by individual that would 'stuff' 1x1 pixel images with dozens or hundreds of keywords. In any event, it is good ADA and Section 508 Compliance to put descriptions on your images.

1. Content becomes visible when a mouse passes over the image.

2. Content appears whenever the image fails to load.

3. The latest HTML specs require that images have an Alt tag (ADA and Section 508 Compliance)

Robots.txt File

Create a robots.txt file to prevent access to certain folders on your web site by some or all of the search engine spiders (or bots). There is no valid reason that I can think of as to why your cgi-bin folder needs to be indexed. There are many web sites available to educate people on the creation of a valid robots.txt file,

Sitemap.xml

Another very useful method to make search engines aware of your web site and content is to create a sitemap.xml file and submit it to the major search engines. Google Sitemaps is once place to submit your sitemap, as well as Yahoo and Microsoft Live. All now accept and use the same format. The tags in a sitemap XML file all have a purpose and you can change the frequency and priority to your needs.

Directory Structure

Another method to improve search engine optimization for a web site is the directory structure, or 'file pathing'. Simply stated, create a keyword rich directory path that contains your web page.

For example, instead of:

http://www.somewebsite.com/insurance/auto.html
A better directory structure and file naming convention (see above) would be:

http://www.somewebsite.com/insurance/auto_insurance/free_quote.html
Formatting your directory structure in this manner gets your keyword appearing multiple times.

These intermediate SEO techniques will help you achieve better positioning for your web pages in the organic search results. For the next SEO steps make sure you followed the basic 5 Beginner techniques as well as the 5 Advanced techniques which you can implement. Lastly, stay away from the 5 SEO Abuses that can get your site penalized or even banned from the search engines.

More and more people are getting into the hype of content writing for one simple reason: there is much money that can be earned in this industry. In fact, if you would just take the time to look at the figures, then you would most likely see content writing at the top of the list of online marketing methods that have been garnering much profit during the past few years. You can even say that content writing has gone beyond being just one of the hypes and trends you find in online marketing. Content writing is definitely one of the best online marketing methods any person can delve into.

However, just because any person can indeed try their luck in content writing does not mean that they would be successful in the endeavor. Content writing is not just about providing content whenever you feel like writing. Your content has to be fresh and captivating to your readers so that you can pull them to your site. What's more, your content has to be as idea-filled as possible so that you can entice the imagination of your readers.

With compelling offers that grab their attention, what reader would want to look away from your site? Here are some tips on how you should go about venturing into content writing, aside from being a good writer yourself, of course. This is already a given that need not be discussed at all.

The first thing to consider is your website. Your website has to give off that professional image that many readers look for. If you would look at the common blog site, well, you would certainly see that a lot of these sites are more personalized and customized. This may be good for a blog site, but when it comes to marketing strategy, it would actually be better to maintain a professional image for your website. Make sure the information you upload onto your website are indeed useful to your readers.

Aside from being useful, your information should also be interesting. What content writer would not want their articles to grab the full attention of readers? And you have to go beyond just grabbing their attention because you have to retain this, from the very first word to the very last word of your article. Smarts and wits are needed here, as well as being knowledgeable about the topic, of course. Make sure that your content contains facts, and not just a bunch of hearsay that you can find all over the web.

Lastly, you have to make sure that your content is written very well. Readers are very picky when it comes to the articles they read. Really, an article full of grammatical and punctuation errors present serious letdowns for just about any reader. Once these errors are smoked out, readers would simply close their browsers and look for other more reliable sources.

Keep these tips in mind when you want to try your hand in content writing. You won't notice significant results overnight. But with time, effort, dedication, and a lot of practice, things will definitely turn around for you in no time.

Top 10 SEO Copywriting

What would happen if? I'm a person to always ask that question. I love testing and tracking to see what factors can improve or worsen a situation. So, it was only natural for me to track the moves of a little experiment I did involving SEO copywriting recently. I'll gladly share my findings with you.

Before I do, however, I want to make a couple of things very clear. The outcome of this experiment will not be the same for every keyphrase on every page of every site. There are too many unknown factors at play in the overall SEO equation. Not to mention, all keyphrases are not the same, and all sites are not the same. In addition, this experiment takes no account of link popularity, which is a huge factor in achieving high rankings. With that said, let me show you how I took the home page of one of my sites - that didn't even rank in the top 50 - and caused it to rank in the top 10.

First of all, I'm not a big fan of checking rankings on a regular basis. I don't run ranking reports for all my sites to be sure they are all in the positions I want them in for every given keyphrase. I'll do it from time to time just to satisfy my own occasional curiosity. This experiment began when I noticed the home page of one of my sites was ranking highly for a keyphrase that didn't seem to appear anywhere in the text. Upon further investigation, I saw that the keyphrase was included in the ALT tags (a.k.a. image attribute tags) and that it was also included in the title tag.

I knew ALT tags previously carried a lot of weight with the engines, but had been downgraded in importance because site owners had badly abused the tag. Had ALT tags been reinstated in their level of importance? I decided to find out.

Keyword #1 was currently in the ALT tags and the title tag, so I decided to eliminate the keyword in the title tag. This would let me see if the ALT tags alone could hold the position in the search engine results pages (SERPs). To make things more interesting, I also decided to research and find a keyword that was a little more competitive and insert it into the title tag. On the same day I removed Keyword #1 from the title tag, I inserted Keyword #2. My home page was not ranked in the top 50 at that time for Keyword #2.

A few days later, the Googlebot came by and boosted my home page to position #18 for Keyword #2. Not bad! The page fell one spot (from #17 to #18) for Keyword #1 since the removal of the phrase from the title tag.

Keep in mind, these are not the most competitive keywords ever known. They each got between 100 to 200 searches a day. Also, the home page of this particular site had been (and still is) well ranked for years for other keyphrases and had a positive legacy with Google.

Five days later, Keyword #2 was moved up three notches to a ranking of #14 while Keyword #1 stayed the same. Things remained in their status quo for roughly 10 days and then began to shift again. Keyword #1, the original that was previously in both the ALT tags and the title tag, vanished completely. It was not found in the top 50. Keyword #2, that was only found in the title tag and nowhere else, dropped to position #25.

Four days later, Keyword #2 was back up in the rankings and was now at #16. To see if I could improve rankings further, I began to make small tweaks to the page attributes. I added Keyword #2 to the ALT tags (taking the places where Keyword #1 had once been), and I also added Keyword #2 to the body copy. The keyphrase was added to one, bold sub-headline and at three places within the body copy: none of which were above the fold. It was not added to any primary headlines that used tags, and no keyword density formula was followed for the body copy. No other pages on my site used this term as anchor text in links pointing to the home page. That gave the page keyword placement in the:

Title tag

ALT tags

Body copy

Seven days later, the home page hit the top 10 for Keyword #2!

So, what does all this mean? Simple. There is no single primary factor in search engine rankings. It takes balance, testing and tracking to find out what works for your particular pages. Your best bet is to do exactly what I did begin one step at a time and track your progress. Did something cause a positive movement? Keep it. If something causes a negative shift, take it out.

I'm not finished with this page yet. I'll keep trying different things from time to time just to see what happens. Maybe I'll add anchor text links from the internal pages to the home page. I might try writing articles with keyword-rich anchor text links to help boost the rankings more. There are many acceptable practices I can implement for this page (or any page) that will allow me to observe the shifts in ranking. As the old saying goes, "Don't put all your eggs in one basket." A diversified approach to SEO copywriting that includes tags, copy and links is always a wise start down the road to top 10 rankings.

SEO - Keyword Selection

Key words are the magic players who let search engines to recognize your website and take your website to higher rankings. Key words are the single or multiple words that describe the content of your website most appropriately and relevantly. When you select keywords, you must do it very carefully and intelligently following the guidelines that I provide in this post.

There are few tools in the internet where you can find keywords. Two of them are keyworddiscovery and free tools in seobook dot com. The keyworddiscovery dot com asks for purchasing their service but also provides a free trial where you can register with an email. The free trial only allows limited number of keyword searches per day. But if you can create few email accounts and register in keyworddiscovery dot com, you can easily avoid this limitation. SEO tools in seobook dot com are absolutely free and they were designed by the father in SEO, one of my favorite, AARON MATTHEW WALL. These tools are highly used and trusted by many SEO guys around the world. If you have money to spend, there are hundreds of sophisticated and automated SEO software to be sold. But I personally feel that the free tools I provided are quite enough to SEO your website. All you have to do is thinking of a keyword or few keywords which describes the content of your website or webpage best. Then search them with an above mentioned tool and check the number of searches. You have to find your keyword or number of keywords in a way that they have the highest number of searches.

It is a better approach if you can have a keyword phrase than a single keyword. Because it is proved that the keyword phrases are more productive compared to a single keyword. For an example, let's assume that your website is about webhosting and the keywords you found are "web hosting", "cheap hosting" and reliable hosting", you can make a phrase as "cheap reliable web hosting". Never use a single key word or phrase for multiple pages. Always try to use a different keyword phrase for each webpage. Otherwise you will lose the quality and productivity of the SEO. Never use more than two primary and few secondary keyword phrases. I will let you how to and where to put these primary and secondary keywords in the coming posts.

If your website has more than hundred pages, make sure that all your pages convey the main theme and niche of your website. Each page must have a unique content and it should be informative and useful for your visitors and customers. As I mentioned earlier, you must have separate keyword phrases for each page. Always make sure that you select the best keyword phrase for each page.

If there are dynamically generated web pages in your website, you should find a technique to add the keyword phrase suitable for each page. For an example, if you provide a customized search option in your website, the result page will differ according to the search parameters. Then you have to define keywords for each criterion and add it in the programming level of the website. The most important thing you must understand is, the best keyword phrase you found for a page might not be the best after few months. You must do keyword research few times per year if you maintain a high productivity in your SEO effort. In the next post I will explain you about the webpage optimization and homepage optimization.

If you are looking to skyrocket your search engine rankings in as little time as possible, there are several SEO software programs that can help you do that. The most famous of the programs is SEO Elite. A very highly respected tool in the search engine optimization industry.

Everyone really must know that SEO Elite by itself will not be enough to deliver your site to the first page of the Google rankings. I believe you must have a pretty solid knowledge of SEO and your website should have content relevant to the keywords that are used in your optimization.

SEO Elite does help build your link popularity. Link popularity is one of the most important factors in Google rankings. The more links, the better the page rank. Link popularity is the number of quality websites that link back to yours. SEO Elite helps greatly in this respect. It analyzes back links in all the major search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN. This saves you a great deal of time.

Another great point about SEO Elite is that it allows you to track your competitors linking strategies. It's like being able to spy on your enemies, all day every day. Using this software you can find a competitors linking strategies and any kind of optimization tricks that they have been using.

Which means you can find out what types of anchor text they are using in their incoming links, what the page ranks of the websites that are linking to them are, and any web site's keyword density.

As you can see SEO Elite delivers valuable information that can be used to get ahead of the SEO competition right away.

It delivers information about your competitors meta tags which are the tags search engines use to index your site. It provides you with a very detailed blueprint that will help you start ranking high in the big search engines.

You can also use it to find directories with high page ranks that you can submit your site to. It will automatically submit your sites for you, saving you a great deal of time and hassle.

SEO Elite has way to many features to list here. It is user friendly and the ease of use is pretty good overall. I highly recommend this software.

Attaining a top ranking in Goggle or any other major search engine nowadays is a herculean task indeed. But webmasters are archieving this enviable position continuously. The common thing about many of these top sites is that they have plenty of good content and quality one way inbound links.

These are the two most important elements in search engine optimization today. Content and quality links are the most difficult aspects of present day SEO. I guess that is why the major search engines have adopted these two elements of SEO as a must for top ranking. They are right of course. Content is what the search engines crave and quality one way inbound links is what makes a site an authority site for a particular keyword.

CONTENT:

Providing quality content at your website is not an easy task. It involves research, coming up with good ideas always, visiting forums and discussion groups to know what the latest trend is and so on. There are so many ways to come up with great ideas to write on. Some of these are;

1. Visit discussion forums and learn what problems people are seeking solutions for.

2. Browse other relevant sites and see what other webmasters are doing. This could give you creative sparks.

3. Subscribe to quality newsletter that give the latest trends, tools and resources in your line of business.

How to create content for the search engines..

The easiest way to creating content for your site is through publishing other people's Articles. You can setup your site to receive and automatically publish articles after reviewing them. The trick here is to go for very good, useful and quality articles. Once your site becomes known for quality articles, visitors will keep coming back for more.

However, the downside is that a visitor reading a good article would want to click to the author's site. Another disadvantage is that most times articles are not written for good search engine optimization. Important SEO techniques like keyword Density, keywords in headings etc may not be taken into consideration by the author.

Another way to easily create content is to hire a ghost writer. You pay a certain amount to have somebody write articles for you. You can find good writers at elance.com

Using a blog to create content.

One way to continuously provide content for your site is by using a blog. In your blog you can link to the rest of your site. The blog could be part of your site. For example, http://www.ebizstartups.com/my-business-tips.html. That is the URL of my blog. I have links to the main site from my blog this ensures that the search engines visit my blog and the main site quite often because the blog is updated often with content and if you have a new product you want to introduce at your site, start from your blog and link to the product page. Updating your blog frequently with new content ensures the search engines visit often. Once the frequent updating trend is set you will find that the search engine spiders will visit even when you stopped updating for a while.

ONE WAY INBOUND LINKS.

How do you get these one way inbound links? This is the million dollar question. For an in depth strategy for acquiring these type of link go my site at http://www.ebizstartups.com and download a free PDF version of the report. If you can generate these type of link you are on your way to the top of the major search engines. But wait a minute. Is it just to generate links to your site? If it is just that, it's easy.

Write articles and submit to article submission sites. At the bottom of your article or your resource box you are allowed to put in a link to your site using the URL of your site. But what good will that do you? It will bring you traffic okay. But that is as long as you keep writing those articles. Once you stop the traffic stops. However, the links you acquire through articles using your site's URL may only increase your site's link popularity but not link reputation.

While link popularity is the amount of links that point to your site link reputation is the amount of links that point to your site with your keywords in the anchor text. Search engines use this anchor text link carrying keyword to judge your link reputation and determine whether your site is an authority site for that keyword. Understand all that? No? okay let's look at it in another way. If all the links pointing to your site have the text a s the URL of your site. Unless somebody searches using the exact URL of you site your site will never be found. And people do not conduct searches using URL like www.ebizstartups.com but if the other site pointing their links to your site with the link text having for example "link popularity" then you are on your way to the top for that keyword.

The author, Salihu Ibrahim, has several good articles to his credit. Examples are, "Google adwords made easy" and "How to acquire one way inbound links". These and other articles could be found at his site at http://www.ebistartups.com. He is also the owner of http://www.autoresponders4all.com which provides completely free autoresponders for webmnasters.

From an effective search engine optimisation point of view the number of keywords in your Meta Tags that you place in the back end configuration of your website should not exceed a thousand characters. The number of characters in your title is totally up to you. Most submission companies usually only permit title lengths of a maximum of one hundred characters. A hundred characters can be very beneficial for you in your title because you can use many specific keywords in that title.

Be concerned with the product or service that your website is marketing. This applies specifically to your management of keeping up to date with the changes that your business opportunity makes with their products and or services. You need to know all your opportunities details so that you can write related content in your website to market that information. Concentrate on how you can configure or design your website from an SEO angle to promote your business product and or service. Focus on how you can capture keyword categories to place in your title and website content that will place your website on the first page of Google.

The more keyword categories that you can capture on the Google search engine the higher traffic areas you will get into, the better off for you. This could result in more sign ups into your business which will bring you more profits. When configuring or designing your own website effectively you need to ensure that you accomplish one critical SEO aspect.

Choose your website title and then do some testing of that title by conducting searches on search engines and by using keyword selector tools. See how popular it is as a search term in the search engines, specifically the Google search engine. Everything in search engine optimisation is testing by trial and error to see what works and what does not. When involved in your campaign you need to test a lot. You need to test to make sure that you stay up to date with how the Google search engine works.

These days, when everybody seems to be using article marketing as their primary marketing tool, you need to strive to set yourself apart from the rest so you can survive the growing competition online. This is to ensure that you will get your fair share of online users' attention and website traffic.

1. Start your articles with a striking title. You would want online users to notice you, right? One way to do that is to give your articles intriguing and attention-grabbing titles. So, instead of just putting "Tips on Article Marketing", you can use "Article Marketing: 7 Marvelous Secrets to Stay on Top". The second title will surely generate more attention online as it is more precise and more attractive.

2. Use inverted pyramid technique. If you don't want to lose the interest of your readers once they open you articles, you need to give them compelling first paragraph. How to do that? The answer is simple: give all the information they need within the first 100 words of your article. By doing so, they will immediately feel that your article is valuable and they will be compelled to read on until they reach your resource box.

3. Check your articles. It is not enough that you provide informative and useful content to your readers. It is equally important that you give them great reading experience by making sure that your articles are free from any kind of errors. By doing so, you can easily communicate your professionalism which is important in convincing your potential clients to transact with you.

4. Use a powerful resource box. Your resource box must be equally compelling so don't just leave your website's URL on this part. Include your name, your expertise, a powerful elevator pitch, and an irresistible call to action.

Article Marketing is a great way to create a massive presence on the internet. Each and every article that you write and submit to EzineArticles and other directories becomes just one more article agent working for you 24 hours a day, seven days a week on the internet.

So let me ask you a question. What happens when you type your name into Google or Yahoo? Are there pages of results with your name and information available? Or just a few?

The benefits of massive web presence

Here is an example for you. Many of my students and mentees are speakers. Let's say that great speaker number one and great speaker number two are fairly evenly matched in terms of skill, topic and price. And now Mr. or Ms. Program Director or Meeting Planner has to choose which one to hire.

When you type great speaker number one's name into the search engines, you get two or three results. When you type great speaker number two's name into Yahoo or Google, you get pages and pages of results, many of which are articles that great speaker number two has written and distributed across the internet.

Now which speaker do you think the meeting planner or program director is going to hire, everything else being close to equal? Of course they are going to hire great speaker number two because of the web presence the articles have provided.

Whether you are a speaker, author, coach, information publisher, whatever you are, the more articles you have working for you, the larger presence you are going to have on the internet.

Do you know how to write a really bad resource box for your articles? Well you will after reading and using this article.

Bad resource box tips

As an article writing and marketing coach I've seen some pretty bad resource boxes. Here are a few tips so you too can write a really bad resource box.

Tip 1 -- no resource box -- believe it or not I've seen people leave the resource box blank. Nothing. Nada. Zip.

Solution -- at least get something in there.

Tip 2 -- your virtual ego wall -- write down every accomplishment you've ever made. List your degrees, books written, and how much your parents really like you.

Solution -- the resource box is not about you. A great resource box is all about the reader and what's in it for them.

Tip 3 -- convince the reader you are an expert -- talk about all your years experience and how you are in the expert in this area.

Solution -- if you have not convinced the reader that you are an expert in your article, it's way too late to do it now. Again, resource box is not about you it's about your reader.

Tip 4 -- do not ask the reader to do anything. I fail to take someone who has just read information from you and invite them to do anything else at all.

Solution -- create compelling call to action that takes the reader by the hand and not only asks them shows them what to do next.

Tip 5 -- do not include any active links back to your website or blog. Treat the reader like someone watching the final episode of the Sopranos and just leave them hanging.

Solution -- include at least one active link back to your website or blog so the reader can engage you further.

Follow these tips and you too can create bad resource box is when writing your articles.

If you have tried writing articles and just didn't get the results you expected, add some of these high-performance tips for better results.

The first step in writing a high-performance article is writing a headline that captures the readers attention. Use words in your title that create curiosity and interest. I often use an online thesaurus for generating word ideas.

The next step is to keep your article's content consistent with title of article. One mistake article writer's often make is writing content that doesn't match the article title. If title of the article is about dog training tips and you then spend the article discussing the joys of having a dog, there is a good chance you will lose your reader before they finish the article. A key point is to stay focused on the main subject for your article.

I know it may sound silly but make sure you provide useful information. Often times I will start reading an article and quickly find the article isn't telling me anything useful and go on to the next article. It's important you provide useful information to your reader so they will continue to read the article.

Keep sentences short and clearly written. Hard to understand sentences will lose readers quickly. If in doubt, be sure to edit the sentence so it is easier to read.

Write personally. Use a personal tone when writing your article. Let your reader get to see your personality whenever possible. Just don't over do it.

Determine the goal for your article. As an article writer, you need to determine your purpose for the article. Is the goal to start building a relationship with your reader? Is is to have the reader sign-up for a newsletter? Determining the article's goal will help you craft your message in the article so you get a better end result.

In closing, I hope you find these high-performance tips useful. Article Marketing can be a powerful marketing tool if used correctly.

There are so many marketing tools in the internet today but article marketing remains to be the best and the most cost-effective in terms of traffic generation and augmenting your sales leads.

Here are the 4 exciting ways to supercharge your article marketing:

1. Understand the terms of service set forth by various publishing sites. Some marketers do not take the time to read and understand the rules and regulations set by publishers until their articles are rejected. This is an absolute waste of time and energy. To prevent this from happening, make sure that you are familiar with the requirements of publishing sites before you write your articles to increase their chances of being posted online the first time you submit them.

2. Do not advertise on your articles. Articles are not great venue for your sales pitch as people expect to get information when they open your content. To make article marketing work for you, you have to keep this in mind: inform first before you advertise. If you are able to educate or empower your readers through your content, they are most likely to click on your resource box and you will automatically convert them from readers to potential clients.

3. Your articles must be well-written. There are so many articles in the World Wide Web today, in order to stand out from the rest, you need to make sure that you give your potential clients great reading experience. Enhance your writing skills, be very particular with your grammar, and make sure that your ideas flow smoothly.

4. Your articles must be easy to understand. This should be one of your top priorities when writing your content. Strive to make it hassle-free for your readers to understand your content by using their language and simple terms as much as possible.

Article submission to ezines or article directories can boost traffic to your site; increase backlinks and boost affiliate sales with minimal effort at virtually no cost to you. A single published article can generate hundreds of backlinks to your site - all depending of course on the success of the article itself. The more quality articles you write and publish, the more traffic and backlinks you'll accumulate.

To get started with submitting articles to ezines and article directories, all you need to do is sign up for an account with an ezine or article directory and begin writing articles. Remember - every article you write and publish is yet another advertisement for your own website or Internet business. The key to your success is sheer volume.

If you're not good at writing articles, there are hundreds of services out there where you can hire someone to write your articles for you, or freelance writers and forums where you can advertise.

Once you've completed your article you can manually submit your article to each article directory or article submission ezine or you can use an article submission service. Article submission software, in this case will save you lots of time and effort. There are a lot of good ideas to keep in mind to make your article marketing more successful in generating traffic backlinks to your site.

Write focused articles on one subject. Keep your articles within the preferred 300-1000 word range. Make sure you read and follow the articles submission guidelines. Make sure to go over your articles with a fine-toothed comb to make sure they're perfect - and most importantly, resist using a passive voice.

Your articles should have a take charge and commanding tone. Avoid use of the words "I" and "We" and focus instead on a conversational directive way of speaking. People find comfort in being told what to do from a confident, non-biased voice.

Is a great way to market yourself on the Internet, drive traffic to your website's, and build your lives.

One of the challenges especially new article writer's face is how to make sure their articles and get picked up. One of the things I teach my students, members, and mentees, are the dozens of small nuances that help you get your articles picked up more often.

Sculpting a great body and your articles

one of the ways to get your articles picked up more often it is to sculpt a really great article body. Here are three tips for sculpting a great article body.

Tip 1 - Make sure you create lots of white space. So many times I see writers just sort of squash their article body all together. When you create white space you give the impression that the article is easily read. This is very important on the Internet because it can be difficult to read online for some people.

Tip 2 - Use bullet points, numbers, lists, laws and rules. Anything that allows you to break up your article body in two separate areas. Bullet points, lists, etc. create bite sized chunks of information that are easily consumed by the reader.

Tip 3 - Use sub headings. A subheading is simply a mini headline used to begin another thought or section of your article. An example would be a subheading I used above when I wrote sculpting a great body and your articles. This lets the reader know a new section is on the way and light tips wine into break the article up, create lots of white space, and gives the impression that this is an easily read article.

Article authors are interesting creatures if you study the way that they operate on online article submission websites. Some say that there are two-types; those who write for the sake of writing and those who write to sell something online. Article Writers and Article Marketers, so which one are you?

If we separate the categories of types of writers in this venue into only two categories, even though there are many, we still get some interesting comparisons. I very much like this thought and examination between to distinct types of article authors that participate here. In considering only these two types of article authors, I have a thought.

What if an Article Marketer is only concerned with one thing - traffic. Then often they will resort to key words which are in and around mass media appeal, thus they end up blending to what is, rather than what could be. This means current public perception of each domain and subject is being re-enforced to the point of nausea.

Not good or bad, and I certainly make no judgment, as I see many article authors who write some of both types of articles often enough, if a writer also understands article marketing, they stand to impact a lot more people getting them to their works in the first place. Perhaps more online video education is needed for the authors here?

Since there are two distinct types of authors in this comparison, what if we blend them together - instead of one or the other allow them to be both? A hybrid article author might be best for all concerned?

There are many ways of promoting your website on the internet. The internet has grown into a very crowded place recently and now it is simply not possible for a website owner to ignore the importance of promoting your website online. There are so many effective ways of promoting your website but not all of them are created equal. Email marketing is an effective method, and its efficiency is dependent on the list of email addresses that you have built.

These are the 4 steps which you need to take to build your list of email addresses quickly and will lead you to a successful email marketing campaign.

1. You need to make sure that the list of email addresses you are going to use is one that is targeted to your niche market. After determining your niche market, you this is the time when you need to build a list.

2. You can build your list through the use of a squeeze page to collect your subscribers name and email address on your website. It should offer them a free incentive for them to opt-in to your email list such as a free e-book or free e-course. Build rapport with your list and send them useful quality content. Quality not quantity is the difference between online success and failure.

3. "Monetize your list". This is by far the most important step. If you are not doing this step correctly, then you are losing money online.

4. Be patient and let your list grow with time.

Q: I've hear you say that you can make both indirect and direct profits from your articles. What's the difference between the two and how do you do it?

A: While there are those who will tell you that you cannot profit from your articles, let's start with 3 points about these folks:

1. They are wrong.

2. They are your competition.

3. This is a good thing.

With that out of the way, let's take a closer look at some indirect and some direct methods for profiting with your articles.

Indirect article profits

Indirect is all the traffic and visitors that come to your website from these articles you have out there, and all the inbound links you have from your articles out there. I've received new subscribers and added new list members while I have been writing this article.

All you have to do is get one article on EzineArticles.com and you have a link coming in from a website ranked consistently in the top 300 in the world.

Direct article profits

Now the direct way is taking the 7 tips articles or any other articles you write and building it out, expanding and repurposing it into different information products.

A 7 tips article (or any article) can be easily expanded and repurposed into the following information products:

  • a mini-guide
  • an ecourse or eprogram
  • an ebook
  • a teleseminar

From now on I want you to look at a simple article and see the many information products they can grow into, because that is how you can create your information empire with your articles.

THE BIG MISTAKE:

The market is so slow and I don't even know where my next sale is coming from.

How often have you heard someone say that when business is down and the economy is questionable? It seems logical, doesn't it, to tighten your purse strings?

What! Are you suggesting that I should invest in my business now?

Even though it seems logical to tighten up and constrict spending, it is actually based on a scarcity mindset. In a scarcity mindset you focus on lack in your business, and on lack in outer conditions and the market.

The result is a constriction in the flow of energy to your business. In fact, when you focus your thoughts on lack in your business, you have a problem even before you begin. Hence, THE BIG MISTAKE.

Are you constricting the flow of energy to your business? Here are some signs to watch out for:

1. What are your thoughts?

  • I don't have enough clients
  • My competitors are stealing business
  • I can't succeed in today's market
  • Here's an example that contains a scarcity mindset:

There are so many new agents entering the business there isn't enough business to go around. Maybe I should just get a real job.

Have you ever had that thought?

    2. What emotions do you experience?

  • Fear
  • Stress
  • Struggle
  • Anxiety
  • Worry
  • Any of the thoughts above are likely to create the emotions of worry, fear and doubt. You find yourself dwelling in these negative feelings that will prevent you from attracting to your business and the very things you desire, such as more clients and more income. Your thoughts create your reality. Therefore, if you focus on what you don't want, like the lack of money, you'll get more of that.

    3. ACTIONS

When you're stuck in a scarcity mindset, not only does it affect your thoughts and feelings, but also your actions. For example, I was going to take the weekend off, but now I better not. Business is slow and I don't want to miss a call from a prospective client.

Do you see how this is a scarcity mindset? What is the person missing out on? If you said self-care and self maintenance, then you are right. This is one of the actions that goes by the wayside when you're focusing on scarcity. You're simply afraid that you won't have enough so you ignore the importance of taking care of yourself.

So what is the big mistake?

The big mistake is that you are focusing your thoughts on outward circumstances, like the economy, to determine your mindset. If the economy is down you are down. Stephen Covey calls this the reactive mindset. You believe that you are acted upon, rather than being proactive and there is a constriction of energy to your business.

When you are proactive, you don't focus on what the economy or the market is doing, you are coming from an internal state of prosperity consciousness. You don't look to outer conditions to determine your state of mind, you determine your own state of mind by your thoughts, emotions and actions. In essence you create the mindset of being the deliberate creator of your life.

    The solution:

If the mindset is the problem, then how do you switch to a more positive mindset?

    1. Commit to building a prosperity mindset

A prosperity mindset is not something you are born with, it's not in your genes; its something that you develop through practice. Think of it as a muscle that you exercise. The more you exercise it, the stronger that muscle becomes.

It's the same with prosperity mindset. Successful people have one thing in common they believe in their own success and their ability to attract money into their life. They look for opportunities and find them... everywhere. Why? Because they had an internal prosperity consciousness and they focused on that state of looking at external conditions.

    2. Adopt the beliefs of success

It's easy to adopt a successful mindset - it's just a shift in focus from scarcity to prosperity. The way you make that shift is to have a set of beliefs that are congruent and prosperous thinking. For example, Walt Disney once said, All of our dreams come true if we have the courage to pursue them.

Here are the beliefs of successful people:

  • Change is to be embraced because it represents more opportunity for growth and expansion.
  • Determine what you want, and assume you'll get it. Don't worry about the how.
  • There is an answer and solution to every challenge.
  • Discomfort is part of charting the unknown.
  • Obstacles will not stop them from attaining what they want.
  • Money needs to flow in order to grow.
  • You'll notice that if you practice the beliefs above, you will experience positive emotions that expand the flow of energy to your business.

    3. Be clear on what you want

How can the universe give you what you want unless you are clear about what you want? A challenge for you here is to break the want barrier. Accept the fact that it is not only appropriate and proper, but critical, for you to want anything, of any kind, to any degree.

The main thing is to be clear about what you want for your business. I hear too many people saying, I want to be successful without even knowing what success means to them. I suggest visualizing your ideal professional life in 12 months from today. See yourself doing work you love and noticing approximately how many hours a week you're working. Ask yourself what kind of people you want to be interacting with. Who are your ideal clients? Are they motivated, decisive and respectful of you and your service to them? What is your income in 12 months from today? How much are you making per year or per month?

    4. Clear away any opposing beliefs

When you think about your ideal professional life, what beliefs do have that are opposing your vision? Here are some beliefs that I hear on a continual basis when people are honest with me about discussing their blocks to success:

I like doing my work, I'm just not good at marketing. (Remember, it's only a belief)

I'm really not smart enough or energetic enough to achieve what I want. (Remember, it's only a belief)

The real estate market is so tough right now that I can't possibly make the income I was hoping for. (Remember, it's only a belief)

    5. Take inspired action not frantic action

What kind of action are you taking? Are you taking action because you're afraid? If you are, your action may be frantic action rather than inspired action.

What is inspired action? Inspired action comes from your intuition and listening to your gut instincts. You follow your heart, you follow your hunches; you don't wait for someone to hand you a formula because there is none.

You will know if youre taking inspired action by the way you feel by the results you are getting. Youll be feeling relaxed and confident and the results that you will be getting will be one or more of the following:

  • Increased clientele
  • Increased income
  • Increased passion for your work
  • As a review, remember to avoid THE BIG MISTAKE by being conscious of what you focus on.

Dont let the outer conditions determine your mindset. Keep a mindset of prosperity and practice the beliefs of successful people. Keep remembering to expand the flow of energy to your business, whatever the market is doing.

When times seem tough, it is especially important to stay away from a scarcity mindset. Instead, go within and look for the opportunities for new ways to market yourself from a prosperity mindset.

Article marketing is one of the most used traffic generating tools in the internet today. Why? It is because it is very efficient in driving traffic to a site without the need to shell out money. In addition, it is very uncomplicated too. All you need is to write relevant articles about your products, services, or your website and submit these articles to article directories. Each submission grants your site a quality inbound link because you are allowed to leave a link of your website on your resource box.

If you would like to be effective in utilizing article marketing, these 3 amazing ways are for you:

    a. Produce well-written, useful, timely, and relevant articles. Online users will judge your expertise on your field based on the articles that you have submitted on article directories. To convince your readers that you are knowledgeable about the topic you are discussing, you must write informative articles that your readers will find useful with the pressing issues they may have.

    b. Be aggressive in having your articles marketed in all forms and means. You can try having these article materials published in all article directories. This will give you and your article more chances of getting exposed to potential readers and clients. Do not play conservative in marketing your articles.

    c. You can have your articles posted and published on some other websites which share similar concepts as yours. This is another way of making an aggressive proclamation of what you have and what you can offer.

    d. You can join some forum discussions and message boards where free advertisements are being allowed. You can share a bit of what you know in exchange for your articles to be published or potentially, the link of the site address that you own.

Like most internet marketers, network marketers and online business owners you are always searching to find responsive sources of targeted lead generation and increased web site traffic, at least thats what I am constantly being asked about.

You have heard it all before, all the things you must do:

    • Target your market
    • Increase web site traffic
    • Entice responses to your opt in forms
    • Collect your leads contact information
    • Improve conversion rates
    • Build your lists
    • Monetize your lists

Your question is still - How do you do that effectively?

Start by learning how to deploy an article writing strategy to target your lead generation efforts by:

    1. Researching the categories in popular article directories, and select topics that are relevant to your target market for your article writing campaign
    2. Researching keyword phrases related to those topics, for example, if you Google "targeted lead generation" or "lead generation you will find the competition is 11, 300 for the former compared to 1,900,000 for the latter, hence you would use the phrase "targeted lead generation" to attract visitors interested in that segment of the broader lead generation market.
    3. Targeting your keyword phrases in your article writing, to improve your conversion rate of article readers to visit the "targeted lead generation" anchor text in the link of your articles "bio" or "resource box" leading them to your web site.
    4. Providing valuable content to help your readers answer their questions, or solve the problem is your primary purpose in article writing. By doing so you will establish yourself as a "go-to" resource in your target market, that your targeted leads will want to hear from, so they will be willing to give you their contact information, if you ask them in an appropriate manner.

This particular area of article marketing has probably had more to do with my success in article marketing than anything else that I have done. I am a particular avid tester, and by testing I was actually able to create two article marketing methodologies.

I created different tracking pages for different sets of article directories, and ranked each of these sets of article directories according to the amount of traffic they brought me. Using the process of elimination, I was able to quite quickly determine which web sites were good for generating direct traffic from my articles, and which web sites were best for creating long term inbound links. I have also used my tracking techniques to determine which article marketing submission and distribution services were most effective. This actually spurred me to drop some of the article submission and distribution services I was using at one time, in favor of doing more of the work myself, and outsourcing to an individual rather than a firm, the submission of my articles.

There are two primary tracking methods I employ, and I will attempt to go through these in as detailed a fashion as possible, as I personally believe this is one of the most important aspects of your web business.

You see, in most of the web marketing you do, you will find that on average, your long term results are not necessarily positive, in aggregate. But if you isolate the productive portions of your strategy, and drop the ones that are pulling you down, you can often create profits or results, even when initial results are ho-hum.

Here are the two article marketing methodologies:

    1) Write lots of articles and submit to a short list of special article directories for immediate traffic

    2) Write a small number of articles and submit to a long lost of various article directories for long term search engine traffic.

Sean Mize is a full time internet marketer who has written over 1574 articles in print and 11 published ebooks.

As you know, article marketing is the process of writing and distributing your articles online. But do you know how you can excel in this marketing tool and get ahead of the pack?

In this article, I will tell you the 4 maximum ways to improve your article marketing to augment your website's traffic, improve your search engine ranking, increase your sales potentials, and obtain maximum online revenue.

    1. Avoid using duplicated content. This can greatly tarnish your online credibility. Nobody would trust a marketer who doesn't have the ability to produce articles on his own. If you don't have the knack for writing, I suggest that you hire ghostwriters who can provide you with quality articles for reasonable prices. Although you will have to spend money on this method, you will get the credit online and you can establish yourself as an expert.

    2. More articles mean more traffic. Strive to produce and submit articles on a regular basis. As you know, each submission grants you one quality inbound link. Thus, it follows that if you are aiming at driving huge traffic to your site, you must be willing to multiply the number of your submission.

    3. Go with the best publishing sites. Submit your articles to submission sites that have quick review and posting time, have steady and huge traffic, and those that are indexed by Google. These are the sites that can give your articles maximum exposure to increase their chances of being picked up and republished.

    4. Optimize your articles. The success of your article marketing effort largely depends on how easy it would be for online users to find your articles online. Convince search engines to index your articles by sprinkling just the right amount of keywords on your content.

If you are building, or trying to build an Internet business, I'm sure you heard the phrase, "the money is in the list." If you are serious about earning money on the Internet, you must learn how to build your own list. After all, your net income starts with your list! And the way to make consistent money on the Internet is to develop a large and growing list. But the problem is, how do you get that list if you are just starting out and can't afford to spend a lot of money?

Here are a few tips to get you started.

    1. To begin, decide on the type of people that you are targeting for your list. They should be people who are engaged or interested in the niche in which you are participating. Make sure that your niche is large enough so that can develop a sizable list.

    2. Develop a marketing plan! Develop a strategy to find people that may be interested in joining your list. Do some research on forums. Forums are a great way to find large numbers of like-minded people. Find forums that cater to the people in your niche. Join as many forums as you can. Spend some time in each of those forums, read posts and take note of recurring questions. Learn all you can about the needs, wants, and problems of your target audience. The more you know about your target audience, the more successful you will be in marketing to that group.

    3. Determine the needs and desires of your target audience. Locate a free gift that satisfies those needs and desires. Offer this free gift for individuals subscribing to your list. People will subscribe to your list if they see your offer as something of value.

    4. Develop an action plan! Develop a strategy to approach, and contact the people that may be interested in joining your list.

    5. Research and locate article submission sites that specialize in your niche. Your target audience will probably make up a large number of participants, both readers and writers at these sites. Submit articles on a regular basis. Make sure your articles contain an attractive resource box that links your reader to your opt-in (squeeze) page.

    6. Post helpful information to your forums on a regular basis. Include a signature file that contains a link to your squeeze page with every post.

Of course, these are just a few of the techniques that you can use to build a large list. There are many other free methods available. Once you begin to make some money, you might want to look into paid methods of list building. Using these paid techniques, you can build a list much quicker.
