SEO Contests are competitions between SEO Specialists and others who want to either showcase their search engine optimization skills or test their own knowledge of SEO.

Typically, a contest is set up and a keyword or keyphrase is defined by the contest holder. The object of the contest then is to develop a website or a web page that is optimized for that keyword or key phrase. The goal then is to obtain the 1st position rank for a search engine or several search engines for the given keyword.

Unless the contest holder's rules specify against it, most participants will attempt to register a domain name containing the keyphrase.

The next step in developing a contest entry is to provide content. Because the keyphrase is the equivalent of an imaginary word, any content will suffice. Most people choose to talk about the contest, the current rankings, and how they are doing in the contest. Others choose to write stories or even use random text generation to provide content.

Content and relevant domain names are a good start but that's just the beginning. The real work begins in obtaining backlinks. Becoming a fraudulent online article marketer is fairly easy, first pick a fake name. Second, build some websites in industries you know nothing about or even blogs if you want. Next, put AdSense ads on them - now put up some commentary that is "key word" rich. Now for the biggest secret of all; use deceptive advertising by writing online articles hyping and "buzz marketing" and write hundreds of articles, and post them online at free-submission sites, with by-lines to your various websites.

Another great trick is to "Steal" content from such online article websites and post these onto your blogs or websites, which have AdSense ads. Trust me Google does not care, as they make money too. The legitimate online article writers will never know, especially if you delete their name, add another name or kill their by-line links.

One more tip, if you are caught make sure you sign up for the Blog or website using false information so no one can catch you. The bum marketing method has been around for a few years as the bum marketing method. Before that it was, and still is called, article marketing. It's not exactly a new concept, although it has taken off in recent years thanks to the founder of the Bum Marketing Method. I believe his wife actually gave him the name.

Bum marketing is nothing more than writing articles that either promote an affiliate product such as can be found on places such as Click Bank. Or these articles can refer traffic back to a site that has many affiliate products listed there.

Both ways have their pro's and con's, however I think there is one way that has worked well for me that might work well for you, in regards to article marketing and the bum method marketing idea.

First, you want to look at making a site around a specific niche. Be that the health category, making money from home via the internet, or anything else. As long as there is a product to be sold as an affiliate product you will be able to work with the article marketing, bum marketing method.

Once you've picked your niche, you will want to look for the best possible products within that niche. The thing to look for here is that the sales page created by the owner of the product is engaging. I find that the longer the sales page, however, is worse. This is contrary to what most people who are internet marketers think. I tend to be realistic and look at the end user. They don't want to sit through a huge list of reasons why they should buy a product. They want a few and then get on to buying the product.

I have to think the reason why so many products fail when be promoted is by a faulty sales page. The longer the worse it is. Yes there are some amazing sales pages out there that will damage your finger by the amount of scrolling you will have to do, but by and large most people will have either made a buying decision within the first few paragraphs of the sales page or they will decide it's not for them.

Once you've found your product you will then want to write your outstanding article with a captivating resource box that will lead people back to your site. Now this is where many people get tripped up. They want to them go back to an affiliate site, such as Click Bank, and look for another product. The thing to really do is to write another article for the same product and link it back to your site or blog.

Too many times people will write one article using article marketing, bum marketing techniques and decide that the product just didn't work, when really they should have written around five to ten articles regarding this one product.

If you are going to invest your time in creating an article using article marketing and bum method marketing techniques, be sure to make it the best article you can and be sure to focus on writing more than one article.

Article marketing is one of the easiest ways to create targeted traffic to your web site, and of course one of the ways to do this is through the process of creating backlinks from your article to your web site.

Once you have written your article (and by the way, make sure that you have thoroughly spell checked your article and made sure that it is not ungrammatical ask a member of your family or a friend to read it over for you), then make sure that there is some way for your reader to access your website for more information.

The easiest way to allow the reader to access your web site directly from your article is to include a backlink (or 2 or 3) to your web site or web pages therein. You can either create a bio; this will generally be permitted by the article directories in the form of the authors resource box; and in the bio include a backlink to your main page. This is a box which is added to your article and in which you can say a bit about yourself and provide a link to any page in your website that you want.

Another thing I like to do, when the article directory permits it, is to include specific web pages in my text anchor backlinks, rather than my index or main page.

This is what is so good about article marketing. You can advertise a specific page within your website. If readers like the article and wants to copy it to their own website, they may do so as long as they include your resource box. What this does is to provide you with a link to your web page back from theirs, without you having to provide a reciprocal link.

Article marketing is simply getting your information in front of as many eyes as possible in as many consumable forms as possible.

One of the best and easiest ways to do this is to re-purpose your articles in your blog.

The only real challenge is that at 300 to 500 words most articles are too long for your average blog post.So here aretwo ways to create several blog posts out of one article and build a little "article intrigue" while your are at it.

1. Split your article into three separate blog posts over an interval of three days or longer. This is especially simple if you have made 3 major points in your article. It can be done with any article though. In the first post use about a third of your article. At the end of the post, tell the reader a bit about what to expect in the next blog post. And so on.

2. Another great way to do this is to use the "read more" function on your blog. The read more icon on Word Press blogs looks like a sheet of paper cut in half. This is essentially what you are doing. At some point in your article place the read more command and your article stops there, creating a small post. When the reader clicks on the "read more" link they are taken to a new page and the rest of the article.

Bonus tip: To build in a little "article intrigue" place the read more link in the middle of a thought such as "something works really well for me is" and then place the read more link right there.

Buy yourself a good domain name that includes the main keywords of your service or product that you are marketing. Three. Start branding yourself by placing your name on everything you write. Four. Build a website. Do not build a fancy website. There are many 'free webpage services' on the internet that you can subscribe to and use. Create as many of these 'free pages' as you can and then daisy chain them together.

Five. Write press releases. Make sure you join a good, professional and reputable press release company. Use your press releases as announcements of your company and website and not as an advertisement. After you have written your press releases, articles, forum posts and blog posts, take the unique link created by each post and manually submit each one to the Google search engine. Six. Get out of the 'advertising syndrome' as advertising on the internet has been overdone and it no longer works. Provide people with good information that can help them solve problems and challenges in their businesses. Seven. Back your press releases up with articles. Back your articles up with forum posts and submit blog posts to support your forum posts. Write and post press releases, articles, forum posts and blog posts every day for the rest of your life.

Eight. As Blogging is probably the most powerful SEO tool you can use, make sure you join a free blogging service and post to that blog every day. Nine. Obtain RSS feeds for continuous live updated content changes from all the various content submission areas on the internet that provide the same content as your topic, title or website. Place all those RSS feeds on the websites that you build. That concludes the summary of the basic effective and successful critically important search engine optimisation techniques. Study and apply them and you will be amazed at your progress. Progress will not happen instantly but after a few months you will realise that these techniques work.
