Link Baiting, The Good, The Pretty Good and The Unforgiving

Hey everyone. First I would like to say thank you to all my readers and visitors. We will all come together and make it happen for all of us in the long run, again thank you for all your support. OK, now on to the subject for today.Let's talk about "Link Baiting" and what it is exactly.

Link baiting is, in simple terms, having a article or blog post worthy of being posted on another website by the owner of that website. As this happens, your link gets spread around from site to site and the readers of that site get a closer look at you and have found respect and trust in you because someone they trust have added you to their site. This is considered "Viral" marketing. It works well in forums or places where discussions are taking place about different topics or subjects. Link Baiting is sort of like "Fishing" (And I mean at the lake, not phishing peoples info). There are what we consider several different types of "Hooks" or "Lures" that make link baiting possible. This kind of marketing is also good to promote any product or niche you have a campaign on as well as Brand yourself along with it. This will eventually have a good or even great impact on your affiliate marketing business. So let me explain each one in detail: The Hooks:

The first "Hook" is called the "News Hook":

If you read an article or news bulletin and do your research about that article and can disprove it ethically with facts and being respectful in doing so, then you can become an Authority Figure on the subject, thus, gaining trust and respect of your readers. Also I need to mention another form of "News Hook". If you were to find an article or several that relate to your niche, make sure they are interesting and catch the attention of your readers and be the first to link to them, this also is a way to brand yourself and promote your niche, your affiliate marketing business.

The second "Hook" is called 'Resource Hook"

This "Hook" is an exceptional one. The "Resource Hook" is a helpful article, post or resource that you, yourself write or give freely that helps your readers along in their life, whether it's a recommended program, free software or tools or a list of other resources you have gathered yourself. As long as it is useful and helpful to your readers and possible consumers, and you give it freely, this will instantly boost your credibility and reputation amongst them. And you feel good to be able to help out others. And you will receive links back to your article and your site. Like I always say, "Giving is generosity that all people should practice".

The third 'Hook" is called "Humor Hook"

This hook is strictly for a niche or product you may have a campaign on. Lets say through your searching or researching you were to come across something extremely funny that relates to your niche. Like a picture, video or even an article. Posting this up on your site could gain you popularity because they say "Laughter is the healer of the Soul", right. So now you post it up on your site and people are happy to see that not only are you a serious business person but you also have a sense of humor and they get a kick out of it enough to link back to you and your humorous post. This is where showing your personality builds your character.

The fourth "Hook" is called "Excited or Belief Hook"

If you find something that really gets you excited, makes you feel happy or changes your life. This is a hook that is easy to promote because you believe in the product. This is my favorite "Hook" because you feel good about what you are promoting. And if you feel good it will translate into your writings, trust me. Not just that but you can talk or write about it with conviction. It is the ultimate high feeling so good about something and being able to share it with your friends, readers and everyone. Knowing that you will help people is the ultimate reward. This will get your readers excited and you will again instantly gain respect, authority, trust and build your character as a person fast.

The fifth "Hook" is called "Comment Hook"

I like this one a lot as well as number 4. This "Hook" is a BIG respect hook to the author you post a comment to, which will get you your respect back. They say "To Get Respect you have to Earn it", right. Well this is the way to earn it. Now don't go spamming blogs, post or articles just to gain popularity. There is a ethical way to do this. If they have written about a niche or subject that relates to yours and it is a good article, then kool, go ahead and leave a comment telling them why you liked their article. You can, in some cases leave a link to an article that you have written or a way to get in contact with you. But spamming your information is not a good idea. What this will do for you is gain the respect of the people and the site for which you left your comment and most likely gain their interest and the interest of their readers as well. Pretty soon you may have your links on their website posted by them. Ahhhhh, the Ethics of online marketing and affiliate marketing. Feels good, doesn't it.

These are the five I recommend. There are two others that I don't recommend and if you use them, us them with extreme caution.

The sixth "Hook" is called "Attacking Hook"

This "Hook" can be dangerous and hurt you along the way. This is where you accuse or try to discredit an article or post about a niche or certain subject. When doing so you tell your readers and theirs that this article or post is basically a lie and/or a scam which could cause hard feelings between you and the author of that post. If you choose to go this route, I HIGHLY recommend that you do thorough research on the subject and make sure that what you say can be justified not just by you but others. Also you may create a mob of angry bloggers that could link back to negative posts.

And the seventh "Hook" is called "Contrary Hook"

I know that all of you have heard the term "According to Contrary Belief". In other words, what many other people may believe and have written about but are not necessarily true or with holding certain information that can be critical or misleading to the readers. Well this is a form of that but through article and post writings. This is where you become very controversial in your article or post about someone else's article or post. Either trying to disapprove it, disagree with it or simply saying they left out to much information as if to have their readers walking around with blinders on to hide what is lurking within the walls. Again, this is also a dangerous tactic and could hurt you. They say that "Honesty is the Best policy" but they also say "Good guys/girls finish last". Get my point. I personally don't believe that "Good guys/girls finish last" but be cautious. Controversy can also cause hard feelings. If you choose this route again, "DO YOUR RESEARCH".

Link baiting is one of the most successful ways to promote yourself, your niche and gain trust, respect and authority amongst all people. It will benefit your online business and boost your affiliate marketing sales 300% and more. So remember that ethics, respect and research are all KEY factors in "Link Baiting" and that it is possible to hurt yourself as well as promote yourself with this type of marketing. Good luck in all your endeavors and always keep smiling. Peace and GOD speed.

The Internet is a very competitive arena. It's easy to see one of the reasons why. At a click of a button, any web surfer can move from one business website to the next. The real world restrictions of distance and accessibility are barely applicable. For a site to succeed, it needs to respond very quickly to shifts in the environment. In this environment, its clear that website age is not enough to build or sustain traffic. That right, setting up your website and then sitting back and expecting it to grow or get anywhere by itself is unlikely to happen. Websites need continuous tending and in this article we'll view some of the reasons why.

As time passes, your current competitors are adding content to their sites and promoting their services every way that they can. Their promotion results in them developing more links and repeat users. Whereas a site which remains untended does not improve over time an stagnates in a very real sense. Additionally, more competitors, usually highly motivated, will enter your arena.

Thus, once you've completed your site, you should really develop a program for adding fresh content to the site continuously. Review your niche, read journals an bloggs in your niche, be up to date with new laws, technologies , major entrants to the market, and operating techniques employed by your competitors. In essence , you should improve and update your knowledge of the niche. This improved knowledge can then be poured out ,as fresh content ,on the site, on a regular basis.

You must also promote the site continuously. To this end consider a continuous advertising campaign . However, make sure that you're getting a return on any advertising spend. Thus you could get banners on relevant high traffic sites. Another form of promotion is continuous SEO activity. Build links, all the search engines love links, its how their spiders find your content. The more links you have in more parts of the Internet, the more likely it will be that search engine spiders will find and index your sites pages. You could write highly targeted emails to the webmasters of relevant sites introducing your site and inviting them to link to your site. If your site has the qualities they require, they might well link to your site. You could also submit your site to established web directories, this is the most straight forward way to build links to your site.

One Way Link Building the Easy Way

In a nutshell the method here is one of building your own software and submitting it to software directories via a pad file. Sound complicated? Only if you are under 3 years old and if that's the case you are probably not going to understand much of what I am about to say. Barring that, it really is that simple. The only thing you have to do is fill in a form and use a wizard that does everything for you. There is literally nothing more than that to it and when you've finished you will have a massive amount of quality high page rank links back to your site.

It's all about back links. Specifically one way back links. Why? Because Google and all the other search engines (SE) prefer one way back links. Generally speaking it has always been thus. Originally the emphasis was on reciprocal linking which is a method of linking where websites trade links; I link to you if you link to me etc.

Now, in an ever changing cyber world such is no longer the case and reciprocal linking really doesn't count for a whole lot. In reciprocal linking you are only trading links with another willing site and that says nothing about who or what you are. One way back links however, mean that the site linking to you is saying you have something to offer. Why else would they be doing it?

The "SE's" essentially want to give the user the best viewing experience they can. They want to make sure that that individual sees exactly what he/she asked to see because only then will they come back for more. Simply put, the more sites linking to you means the more you have to offer, the more you have to offer the more the SE's want you. If you add into that mix high page rank authority sites linking to you this can be one seriously good thing.

There are any number of different method's out there to achieve this. You could write articles and submit them to directories, do a blog and again, submit it to social bookmarking sites; you can leave comments on other people's blogs that link back to your site or blog. In all every one of these methods have two things in common; they provide one way links back to your site and they are all, without exception, a lot of work.

If you haven't done it I have and believe me it takes a lot of time and effort and then even more time to actually see any results. Quite frankly that's much too much work for me. I'd rather be doing other things. Fortunately, there is a much better way and that way is creating and submitting software to software directories. Doing this you will Get large numbers of free, high page rank back links as easily and quickly as is possible and you will be amazed at how quick the results will be.

A method that is simple, easy, very fast and requires no technical skills whatsoever.

It can seem a bit daunting when you first start to market your website and realize just how much is involved in getting your site and content out to as many people as possible. Most people find what they are looking for via search engines and placing in them can be a long and tedious task, but if you set up a plan and stick to it you can build a strong and visible standing in the world wide web. One of the most influencing factors is how many relevant and quality inbound links your site has (how popular you are.. in a manner of speaking). Here are a few of the top ways to achieve links.

1) Build relevant traffic with a pay per click campaign and get your site more visitors and exposure.

2) Publish as many articles' at major article submission sites as you can. A good article sites pages actually rank highly and can return a large volume of warm traffic.

3) Submit your article to an industry specific news site. Write several article's and submit them to relevant information sites.

4) Join the Better Business Bureau.

5) Get a link from your local chamber of commerce.

6) Submit your link to relevant city and state governmental resources.

7) List your site on your local library's Web site.

8) Build reciprocal links either via a reputable link service or manually by request.

9) Have contests or weekly prizes, the web is filled with people who are looking for freebies.

10) Give away a related service or software that builds value to your site, preferably something that they have to use at your site and brings them back over and over.

11) Social networking and forums are a great way to put your links out there, just make sure they don't use a no-follow on outbound links if you are looking to build inbound links. This is still a great idea and if you supply valuable information you can bring traffic from Social networking sites and Forums.

12) This is the most important.....You absolutely must have great content and a easily navigated site that is updated regularly.

If you're a superstar accountant, you probably spend a good deal of your time learning the new tax laws, keeping abreast of changes that affect your clients, reading and gaining knowledge and expertise that many of your clients do not have.

If you've taken marketing 202, you probably also send out a newsletter--maybe 4 times a year, or once a month if you're really good. Did you know that you can take the same newsletter content that you've written and instead of just using it once to stay in front of, educate and help your existing clients and newsletter subscribers, you can also use it perform one of the most powerful internet marketing strategies available: building links to your websites.

In fact, you may have already thought of doing this: post your newsletter content on your website. If you have not thought to keep old content on your website as an archive and a resource you should do that too. Do not TAKE old content down even if it is outdated and no longer valid. Mark it as not invalid and link to the more current information, but do not pull it down. But, I digress... let's get back to how to build links with your content.

The trick to getting people to link to you with your content is to specifically approach clients you have that have clients of their own and write or share content that will help their clients and encourage them to post a link to your article from their website. Here's an example.

Let's say you have a real estate agent as a client and they have lots of real estate investor clients that they work with. You want more real estate investor clients for your accounting business. You approach the real estate agent and say, there are new tax laws that affect your real estate investor clients. I have a new article that summarizes that and I'd like to know if it would help you to be able to share that info with your investors. Would it help? As a licensed real estate agent that works with investors myself, I can tell you that it undoubtedly WOULD help. It would allow me to make another, value building contact with my investors without harassing them to buy something from me and show that I am giving them more than just my core service of selling real estate to them.

For you the accountant, you get access to new clients (the real estate investors). You can strengthen the relationship with the real estate agent client you already have. You also get a link from the agents website to your article which has huge value in increasing the popularity of your website and a strong likelihood of having the real estate investor share your article with other investors they know.

This is an extremely powerful tool for developing links from various websites to your website and establishing yourself as a knowledgeable expert in your market.

First of all let's define Search Engine Optimization, SEO or Search Engine Optimization is a Process or methodology applied to a website and its pages in an attempt to gain higher rankings for the website than it would otherwise have. Mainly the process involves modifying some parts of existing web pages so that they become compatible to search engine algorithms.

In ethical search engine optimization, search engine optimizers accept certain methods to be ethical but not others. Now, those methods which they accept, they called it as ethical and those method which they deny called as unethical. In ethical search engine optimization everything is optimized according to the visitors and everything is focussed on the content and its relevancy.

In unethical SEO, everything is optimized for the search engines and methods such as hidden text, cloaking and doorway pages are integral part of unethical SEO. From long time there is a discussion or you can say a type of cold war between these two terms "ethical" and "unethical'. Everybody are after ethical and don't want to say anything about unethical SEO.

Ethical ones have their point of view, their point says that "we employ ethical SEO Techniques and make your site search engine friendly". But the real fact is something else i.e when competition goes higher, these so called ethical SEO's don't have any choice but have to employ some techniques which are beyond their control, yes you are right i.e "unethical techniques".

The point that I was trying to prove is that, whenever you optimize a site for your client don't ever put him in confusion and just discuss your way of doing optimization. I am not advocating that you go for unethical ways but find out some mediocre path where you and your client don't have to criticize each other in future. Accept the competition and accept the fact that there is something beyond ethical SEO.

One of the many keys to success for any web site is how good their site is placed in the search engines results pages. Every search engine you find determines top spots by the same manner: link popularity. You can achieve this by using free reciprocal link exchanges and the more links you have that are from other high quality sites determine what sort of lead you have on the other to win that coveted top spot.

The more links that you have the better chance you have of getting good positioning if you have established hundreds of quality, relevant link exchanges. Therefore, free reciprocal link exchange is a good bet.

Google's PageRank system is Google's way of attempting to try to measure the importance of each web site and sites that have a higher PageRank will tend to rank higher in the search results, and in return they will happily receive more visitors from Google.

Free incoming links exchange is great when dealing with Google because they are the most popular search engine in the world and raising your website's Google PageRank can be the catalyst toward increasing the number of visitors that your site receives.

The most important factor that Google uses in order to determine PageRank is the total number of links that are pointing to it making free incoming links exchange invaluable. The PageRank of the pages that those links are on are crucial to your web sites ranking which means the more links leading to your site from other relevant, quality web sites, the higher your PageRank will be. An effective way in increasing your PageRank is by inviting other webmasters to participate in free incoming links exchange will be mutual beneficial.

Every single major search engine online be it Google, Yahoo!, and MSN, all factor in link popularity in their search ranking. Moreover, other search engines "borrow" their results from one of these big three. Establishing an effective incoming links exchange program can very well increase your ranking in all of the most popular search engines. In short, free incoming links exchange plays a huge part in this.

There are several programs you can purchase on line that can easily automate the process of free incoming links exchange as well as maintaining as well as creating reciprocal link exchanges. Every single popular search engine considers how a site's rank is determined by the quality of links you have on your web site and the number of visitors is therefore there to get a large number of high quality, relevant web sites to post links to your site.

If you are one of the many people who wish to participate in link exchanging but do not have the time to do it manually and decided to opt for a program you may be wondering if search engines like Google or Yahoo! can determine whether or not the links were generated by the program you have purchased as well as if these search engines even care.

The answer to both these questions is yes. They care because companies pay money to be listed as "sponsored" links and seeding your links can play games with their software messing up their sponsoring so yes - they care.

As far as being able to tell whether or not you used a program to see your links - yes. The software they use detects certain key phrases and product information that your software embeds into the HTML coding. If you wish to pull one over on them you may be able to remove the code by opening your HTML files into an editor and locating your link pages and finding the code left behind by the software (it is always near the top and hidden) and simply delete it. Just remember that free reciprocal link exchange is gold in your hands, don't let it tarnish.
