Best link popularity is very important if you want to start a link building campaign. There are some intermediate tips that you will want to understand and keep in mind when it comes to developing your best link popularity options. By following these tips you will be able to increase your business's revenue and profits.

First, when it comes to best link popularity, you will want links to your site placed at other quality websites. If you just place links willy-nilly, these links will be of no effect. The sites you do select to place your links should be sites that have something in common with your own operations. They need to be sites at which consumers who might more naturally be interested in your products or services will visit.

Second, as part of your best link popularity efforts, you need to make certain that your own site is in full form. While it is one thing to get someone to your site through your own link building efforts, you need to keep them at your site. Therefore, you need to make very certain that your own site is attractive and extremely user friendly.

Finally, when it comes to link building, you need to stay on top of the program. You need to make certain that your links are not only well placed but that they are working. There is nothing quite as frustrating for a consumer than clicking on a dead link that takes them nowhere.

Internet driven traffic is the only source of profit for your online business. Regardless of how many times you give away your links to face-to-face customers, if they don't get on the net, you're not going to profit from your internet site. For this reason the majority of your Internet Marketing Dollars should be spent on driving Internet Traffic to your Site.

What is a List Building Article?

A list building article is an article that leads people to a click to your website where you can collect their name, email address, and any pertinent information that will help you deliver them a frequent invitation back to your website. Good list building articles drive traffic indefinitely.

Why should you drive masses of traffic to your site?

When you drive massive amounts of traffic to your website, using well targeted article marketing to speak to a specific audience, your list grows exponentially with relevant buying traffic. The resulting traffic will not only read what you offer, but will buy what you present to them because they're actually interested in your topics.

What are Power-Source Leads?

Power-source leads are qualified, targeted leads who want what you offer them on your website, because you captured their interest in your article with solutions and tips that spoke to their needs. Power-source leads result in buying traffic that visits your website again and again, because you offer relevant information to their business or interests.

Link popularity is the single most influential factor for determining how well a web site will perform in search engine rankings. A web site's link popularity is computed from the number and more importantly, the quality of links pointing to a web site.

Link Popularity history

To gain a better understanding of link popularity it is useful to know why it became so crucial for search engine rankings. In the past a web page's ranking was determined, amongst other factors, by the number of keyword occurences within 'on-page' elements i.e. in page text, META tags, title tag.

When web developers learned that they could trick a search engine to return their web pages by cramming keywords into their pages the search engines had to get a bit smarter. They were using 'on-page' elements to determine relevance so it was only natural that they would look to elements out of direct control of the web page creator i.e. 'off-page' elements. Search engines made the assumption that the greater the number of links from other sites pointing to a web site, the more popular the web site is and therefore a more quality resource. This worked nicely in theory but in practice it was also to be abused.

Web site owners figured out many ways to get links pointing to their web sites one example of which was through the use of link farms, pages the contained nothing more than a collection of links, Quantity of links was being abused so the search engines made use of the old saying "quality not quantity" and began to assign a quality factor to each of the links pointing to a web site. Now web sites that had a higher number of high quality links were looked upon favourably by the search engines. Building link popularity became a science in itself and today is still the most time-consuming and frustrating activity for a search engine optimizer.

Main classes of links

Note: In the following examples SiteA is our web site and SiteB is an outside site (i.e. a web site under a different domain name than SiteA).

Inbound links:

Inbound links to a web site are links that originate from an outside web site. An example would be a link on SiteB pointing into a page on SiteA.

SiteA (----- SiteB

Outbound links:

Outbound links from a web site are links pointing to a page on an outside web site. An example would be a link on SiteA pointing out to a page on SiteB.

SiteA -----) SiteB

There are two further classifications of links:

Reciprocal links:

An example of a reciprocal link is when SiteA links to SiteB AND SiteB links to SiteA, the link is reciprocated by both parties.

SiteA -----) SiteB

AND

SiteA (----- SiteB

To achieve a high link popularity the type of links to build are inbound one-way links. This simulates how natural links are created i.e. links that people create to point to your site because they found it worth linking to.

For outbound links it is natural to assume that they might decrease link popularity of a web site but this is not true. You do not give away your link popularity when you link to another site. They do not add to your link popularity though.

Reciprocal links can add to your link popularity if the web site that you exchange links with has a higher link popularity than your site. However they are not as powerful as inbound, one-way links as they are quite artificial in nature i.e. most probably created by communication between the owners of both sites.

How to build link popularity

So it is quite obvious that to help build up a nice link popularity many inbound, one-way links need to be created. This can be achieved in a number of different (and most importantly, legal) ways:

Directories:

Directories are categorized listings of links from around the web. Many, many directories exist and vary in their methods of getting your link posted on them. They provide a great source of quality inbound, one-way links. Getting listed in quality directories such as DMOZ or Yahoo can be more beneficial for your link popularity than a lot of links from smaller, newer directories.

Great site content:

The most powerful way to get inbound, one-way links is to have great site content that other web sites will want to link to. This allows you to get links from sites other than directories, which can definitely be better. The best thing about this is that it requires no communication on your part, it just happens naturally. If your site has poor content then others sites may not link, including the directories. Most of the top ranking web sites today got to the top because of great content. Writing interesting and informative articles for your web site is a good way of getting these kind of links.

Emailing web site owners:

If you come across a listing of links on a web site other than a directory e.g. a links page on a somebody's personal web site, it can do no harm to write the web site owner a polite email requesting a link to your site from their page. They may request a reciprocal link in return but sometimes they do not and you can get a quality inbound, one-way link for your efforts. I have got many links in the past using this method. In my email I always ask them to visit my site first before making a decision to link and I personalise each email with a comment or two about their site.

Summary

The best and most effective way of increasing your search engine rankings is working to improve your web site's link popularity. This can be achieved by getting as many inbound, one-way links as you can from quality sites such as directories. Other ways to get these links are having great content on your site and requesting a link to your site from other web sites.

Increasing link popularity is a time-consuming and sometimes frustrating process but is definitely worth the time and effort when you see a dramatic increase in traffic.

Automated Link Building Systems

Im sure many of you, as I have, receive lots of spam email saying "we have placed your link on our PR4 site! please place a link back on your site." For those of you new to SEO, PR refers to which is a value assigned by google from 0-10 with 10 being the highest and almost impossible to get ranking. Even ebay is only a PR9! OBL stands for Out Bound Links which are simply links on a page that link to another web site. Pagerank is calculated, in part by how many IBL (In bound links) with each site counting as a vote. IBLs are the same as OBLs depending on who you are talking about - if its your site and the link is on another page its an IBL for you, to the site owner its an OBL because it links away from there site to yours. Am I making this confusing? Sorry, anyway read on.

Now there are a number of reasons why these things are worthless and probably detrimental to your site. Here are the main reasons these things bug me so much:

1) High PR? Not on the page your link is on!
The emails refer to a high PR site which is "domain.com", and that domain may have a decent PR, maybe its a 4 or 6. However, thats NOT where your link is - your link is buried several folders down in their "links"section which usually has 10 to 20 pages with almost no PR and certainly no traffic.

2) Lost in the crowd?
The page that your link has beenplaced on has 100 other links on it. Making the chance of someone clicking on your link almost zero - now I understand that most people are linking to build inbound links for PR purposes, but if your going to go to the trouble of trading links, you might as well go for something that has a chance of being clicked!

3) PR To Spare! NOT
PR is divied up and distributed to all the outbound links on a page. To illustrate this (keep in mind these are bogus numbers for demonstration purposese)

- Lets say that a PR6 site has a potential PR distribution value of 30,000 points - (say 10,000 points equals a PR 4) now theoreticall - based on research I have read and can provide if anyone wants it, if you had three outbound links on this page, each link would receive 10,000 points each and supply the equivilant of a PR4 to each of the 3 pages.

Now, lets say that same PR6 page ads 3 more OBL. Now there are 6 OBL's and each is getting 5000 points each (30,000/6=5000) and now each site is only getting the value worth a PR 2 or 3 passed to them.

Now keep in mind, the numbers here are not accurate and are simplified, however the basis for this concept is ABSOLUTELY VERIFIED AND TRUE. There are several scientific studies and published reports on Pagerank that show this to be true.

Now, on these link pages there are 50 to 100 or more links per page - the PR value they are passing is NEXT TO NOTHING.

4) My links on GarbageLinks.com! woohoo!
Google does not give must credence or value to link pages. So even of the link page has a high PR, the page is not views as "valuable" or "authoritative" by google and therefore has even less value.

5) Dont follow that link!
Its easy for these pages to link to "bad neighborhoods" as defined by the googles webmaster guidelines. The quality of all these automated links is very hard to manage and its highly likely that there are banned sites on the same page as your link will appear! This is a major red flag to google.

6) Gimme Gimme Gimme, I need some more!
The sites that host these automated link farms (lets just call them what they are, i dont care what site its onits a mini link farm) are getting a GREAT benefit from all the suckers that link to them, heres why: When they ask for your link, they are hoping that the suckers out there will put the link into the site on a nice prominent page link there home page or a link page that doesnt have 100 other links on it. Many uneducated webamsters might fall for this and think, "hey great a PR6 site will link to my dinky pr3 blog, ill putt here link right on my home page!" - well the site gets a valuable PR3 link with out much competiton, and the sucker PR3 blog owner gets basically nothing of value in return. This is just bad internet karma.

In closing, while it seems like a great idea to automate the linking process and get your site linked on hundreds of pages using these "link building systems" - in reality it is just essentially another get rich quick scheme - or I guess in this case a "get PR quick scheme" and it will end up hurting you rather that helping you.

You would be much better off spending your time cointacting relevant sites and actually exchanging links to old fashion way.

Without a double, the number one way to build a money making mailing list super fast is article marketing. It's something you can get started with right away and see results in just a few days. In fact, in an hour from now, you can have your first article submitted and ready to start driving traffic to your site soon.

Most people use article marketing to drive traffic to blogs, affiliate products, product review pages etc. But I can tell you by far the most effective way to make the most of your articles is to use them for list building. Articles are the perfect 'relationship starters' with your prospects, and it complements nicely with list building in that you can continue to further this relationship with them where you provide value and you get paid.

Here is the process for article marketing (it's so simple, you will be kicking yourself that you didn't think of it at first):

Step 1 - Research Keywords

Spend time on keyword research first. This will bring out the most mileage for your articles as they will rank higher on the search engines if you optimize your articles with the right keywords. Use Wordtracker to do your keyword research.

Step 2 - Write Articles

Write your articles. If you don't want to write, you can find a writer at Elance or the Warrior forum who will write articles for you for a small fee.

Step 3 - Create A Resource Footer

The resource footer (or resource box) is where you put your link back to your site to get traffic. Make this benefit-laden and call your readers to action to get them to click on your link.

Step 4 - Submit Articles

Submit your articles to article directories on the Internet. You'd want to submit to only the top directories at first, before submitting them to the lower-tier directories to wring more traffic out of your articles.

What do you feel any internet marketer's most burning question might be?

How can I make more money this week?

How much is my advertising bill going to be this month?

How can I get more subscribers?

How can I start creating more profits online?

How can I increase my web site traffic?

Whether you are a newbie or a veteran internet marketer, you have asked yourself those kind of questions more than once, right?

You think, if you could just get more traffic to your web site, you could make more money, at least enough to cover the advertising cost again this month, but it just never seems to get better for you the more web site traffic you get the more your advertising costs are, and you just never seem to quite make enough money without a constant struggle.

So How You can Increase Your Profits without Spending more!

Let's say you have an affiliate product that retails for $47.00, and you hope to sell 60 next month for a total of $2820 sales, you will get 50% commission paid within 30 days of each sale for $1410 cash flow.

You estimate that 2% of the sales page visitors will actually buy your product.

Your past experience shows that Google PPC Ad may send 2% of the ad views to your capture page or sales page .

You will need 150,000 ad views to send 3000 visitors @ maximum of $0.47 to generate the 60 sales worth $1410 to you just to break even.

Here is one way to increase your profits when you can't increase web site traffic for whatever reason?

- You don't own the product so you cannot change the sale price.

- You cannot change the 50% commission unless you find a different product

- If you can just sell 10 more units, you will increase your cash flow by $235 or 16.6%.not bad

Oops! Hold on a second

It just cost you another $235 for the 500 clicks to get the 10 more sales, so that didn't work too well.

What if you could figure out how to get those 60 sales from 2000 visitors instead of 3000.

That is only a 1% change in the conversion rate:

60 sales/2% conversion = 3000 visitors

60 sales/3% conversion = 2000 visitors

Your profit would now be $470 instead of $0 or just breaking even!

1% improvement in conversion rate results in an exponential increase in profits of 470% in this case.

The point is most internet marketers always focus on increasing web site traffic rather than improving the results they are getting from the traffic they are already have.

Don't ever let anybody tell you it can't be done, it's not easy but it is absolutely possible.

Improving conversion by only .5% in the case above would have yielded more than 200% increase in profits ($235)

Sales Results are measured in profits, not by increase in web site traffic!
